When it comes to natural wonders, Palawan never fails to amaze as it houses one of the seven wonders of the world– but Palawan has so much more to offer. From its pristine white sand beaches to its breathtaking scenery, Palawan is truly a paradise on earth. A municipality in Palawan called Coron is one of its prized possessions because it is known for its spectacular small islands that have unique rock formations. Apart from its majestic islands and beautiful beaches, there are also other activities to do and places to visit in the area.
Concepcion Falls
Concepcion Falls, located 40 kilometers from Coron Town, is around 3 to 4 meters tall. The plunge pool or waterfall lake is about 10 meters in diameter and only about 2 feet deep. About 7 feet deep water may be seen at the waterfall’s base. Concepcion Falls is fantastic since there is no admission charge and it is only a 600-meter walk from the highway.
It cascades into a lovely green-blue waterhole surrounded by lush tropical rainforests, with smaller spurts pouring down from the rock sides. The waterfall is just breathtaking. Once you get bored leaping and swinging into the falls and swimming through the crystal-clear water, the falls feed into a river that flows downstream to Conception Town and is excellent for a little quick floating.
Black Island Busuanga
Near Busuanga lies a large island known to locals as Malajon Island meaning Black Island. Despite its stunning white beaches and coconut palms, it appears creepy from a distance. There are several undiscovered caverns and isolated beaches to explore once you set foot on the shore.
The caverns on Black Island were unquestionably the best part (apart from the snorkeling). The first cave was enormous, with a minimum height of 40 feet. The cave was filled with early light, which illuminated two sparkling ponds. You may swim, cliff jumps, or just gaze at the stalactites and rock formations from inside the cave’s depths.
Sunset Views at Mt Tapyas
Mt. Tapyas is Coron Town’s most stunning and well-known sunset vantage point. You can see for miles from the summit, taking in the coastline’s islands and undulating hills. On top of the mountain, there is also a huge white cross with the word “Coron” written in large white letters, like the Hollywood sign.
Depending on where you are staying, you can either walk or take a tricycle to the base of the staircase that leads up Mt. Tapyas. Also, if you’re arriving on your own motorcycle, there is a tiny parking lot.
There you go, you got some of the most underrated activities in Coron. All you need to do now is to book your flight and grab your backpack because you are about to witness a new dimension wherein you will be seeing out-of-this-world scenery and you will come back home full of new experiences which you will never forget.
