It’s definitely a destination you must visit when in Palawan. Here are some spots you wouldn’t want to miss out on:
1. Kayangan Lake
One of Coron’s main attractions and a favorite among travelers, the Kayangan Lake is dubbed as the cleanest lake in Asia. It boasts of crystal-clear turquoise waters, magnificent limestone formations and vibrant marine life. You can access the lake after a 10-minute hike of about 150 steps.
2. Dimakya Island
Home of Club Paradise Palawan, an exclusive 19-hectare private island resort dotted in a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. It is a tropical paradise strategically located amid Coron’s magnificent landscapes and seascapes, natural tourist attractions, and exhilarating dive sites.
3. Twin Lagoon
Separated by karst walls, the twin lagoon will leave you marvelling at such a magnificent sight. The first lagoon is where the boats docks. Access to the second lagoon is by swimming through a narrow opening and under the rocks or by climbing up a ladder. The Twin Lagoon is engulfed by huge granite rock formations with deep clear emerald waters, which also changes from cold to hot temperature because of its mixture of fresh and salt water.
4. Sunken Japanese Wrecks
There are a total of twelve sunken Japanese ships from the 1944 World War II. Go back in time as you explore the wrecks and be prepared to witness massive wartime vessels. Coron wreck dives you can check out are: Akutsushima, Okikawa Maru, Irako Maru and Kyokuzan Maru.
5. Calauit Safari Park
Take a walk in the wilderness and have close encounters with the different wildlife in Calauit Safari Park, a 3,700-hectare island off the coast of Palawan. It is home to various species of exotic African and endemic Palawan flora and fauna.
6. Barracuda Lake
Feast your eyes amongst the picturesque skyline, lush limestone cliffs and irresistibly inviting natural swimming pool of Barracuda Lake. One of the world’s most unique dive sites, its exotic beauty is actually hidden under its unique layers of fresh, salt and brackish water and dramatic temperature shifts, which can reach as high as 38°C. It has a unique 30-meter cave situated on a beautiful 33-meter dive on the north wall of the lake.
